Three Omakase Sushiya to Debut in Midtown Manhattan This Fall
In Midtown Manhattan, three renowned chefs are set to launch omakase sushi establishments, entering competition with established high-end venues such as the Michelin three-star Sushi Sho. Mako, hailing from Chicago, will be located at Shaver Hall within the former Lord & Taylor building, offering dinners priced at $350 for a capacity of 12 guests. The Kumiko Room at One Bryant Park will accommodate 14 diners, showcasing chef Yoshihiko Kousaka's seasonal menu at $325. Chef Masahiro Yoshitake will lead Sushi Yoshitake at 550 Madison, marking the first Michelin three-star sushi chef from Japan in New York since 1989. Each of these sushiya is part of larger, somewhat concealed establishments. Sushi Legend remarked that Midtown has been the sushi hub of the city since the 1970s.
