Thirdspace Architecture Studio's HOVER SPACE in Belagavi, India

Thirdspace Architecture Studio has completed HOVER SPACE, a suspended office extension for KLE Society's headquarters in Belagavi, Karnataka, India. The project, featured in Glocal Design Magazine's 89th edition 'Visionarias del espacio', elevates a new 1,200 m² volume above a 50-year-old existing building without interrupting its activities. Supported by only eight reinforced concrete columns, the structure uses two full-height red trusses for visual identity. A continuous veranda inspired by colonial architecture serves as social space and climate filter, with operable aluminum louvers, expanded mesh, and sliding glass doors controlling light and ventilation. The program includes a vestibule with president's offices, central private offices and meeting rooms, and rear open workstations with city and sports field views. The old building's terrace becomes an intermediate space, partially open and partially covered. The intervention responds to three fronts: the main avenue, the historic campus entrance, and the sports field edge, mediating between urban, institutional, and landscape scales.
