The Lake Como Edition Brings Mid-Century Modernism to Cadenabbia

architecture-design · 2026-10-02

Last year, the Lake Como Edition made its debut in Cadenabbia, showcasing Ian Schrager's concept of minimal luxury. This structure, which was initially the London in 1830 and later became the Grand Hotel Britannia, has welcomed notable figures like Byron and Mary Shelley. Architects Neri and Hu utilized robust materials, incorporating pale polished stone floors and 1950s-inspired chandeliers. The lobby features rose-pink plaster walls alongside a grey marble bar. Restaurant Cetino, under the guidance of Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, presents a tasting menu in a space adorned with deep pink terracotta walls. The first-floor terrace restaurant Renzo offers scenic views from breakfast through dinner. The spa boasts deep green tiles and treatment rooms overlooking a church. The hotel will close on October 31 for winter, planning to add a second pool for the next season.
