The Krank's "Wound" Land Art Marks Bulldozer Scar in Corfu's Erimitis

exhibition · 2026-10-05

In northeastern Corfu, Greece, within Erimitis, artist The Krank unveiled "Wound," a 50-meter land art installation characterized by a red incision and black stitches, representing large-scale bodily trauma. Community members, alongside the Save Erimitis initiative, contributed to the creation of the stitches, connecting the artwork to ongoing conservation efforts. This installation is situated on land previously disrupted by bulldozers during a failed development project proposed in 2012, which aimed to build a five-star hotel, villas, and a marina. Although construction commenced in 2021, it was never finalized. Currently, the land is under the control of a new investment group lacking a definitive master plan. The project was facilitated by Save Erimitis and backed by the Ionian Environment Foundation.
