TEFAF Maastricht 2026 Showcases Global Art from Antiquity to Contemporary Works

The 39th edition of TEFAF, Europe's premier fine art fair, is being held at MECC Maastricht until March 19, 2026. Featuring 278 galleries from five continents, the event presents archaeological, classical, and contemporary pieces. Notable works span Symbolism, Impressionism, and Expressionism by artists including Odilon Redon, Berthe Morisot, and Paul Gauguin. The exhibition also includes modern and contemporary abstract painting, photography, and sculpture tracing the medium from ancient Greco-Roman and Egyptian funerary pieces to 20th-century works by Barbara Hepworth and Eduardo Chillida. Spanish galleries display pieces by Francisco de Goya, Diego Velázquez, and Pablo Picasso. TEFAF has announced that the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden will receive this year's TEFAF Museum Restoration Fund grant to restore Peter Paul Rubens's monumental painting 'La caza del jabalí' (1616-1618). The fair collaborates with institutions like the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Centraal Museum Utrecht, which present thematic exhibitions with loans from their collections.
