Tazartes Collection: Ugo Giannattasio and Pinot Gallizio
The Tazartes collection showcases a striking abstract artwork by Ugo Giannattasio, created in 1957 and presented as a gift to Giorgio Tazartes. Giannattasio, who was born in Rome in 1888, relocated to Paris in 1906, where he formed a friendship with Gino Severini. After joining the Futurist movement in 1911, he encountered resistance from Carrà and Boccioni. He participated in the Salon des Indépendants in 1912 and 1913, established an art house in Rome from 1920 to 1923, and was deported to Germany between 1943 and 1945 for opposing the Republic of Salò. After escaping in 1945, he settled in Turin in 1946 and transitioned to abstraction during the 1950s. Additionally, the collection contains an untitled watercolor by Pinot Gallizio from 1960, who passed away in February 1964.
