Tate Modern to Recreate Ana Mendieta's Neolithic-Inspired Silueta Works
Tate Modern will stage a major survey of Ana Mendieta (1948-85), featuring 150 works and recreations of her ephemeral Silueta Series. The exhibition, curated by Valentine Umansky, opens with Ochún (1981) and includes newly remastered films, rare drawings, and restaged installations. Mendieta visited Neolithic sites across Europe in 1984, including Mnajdra and Tarxien in Malta, Hadrian's Villa, Cerveteri's necropolis, Pompeii, and Newgrange in Ireland, viewing her work as part of a Neolithic tradition. The show runs from 15 July to 17 January 2027.
