Tata Ronkholz Retrospective at Huis Marseille, Amsterdam
Huis Marseille in Amsterdam is set to host 'Designed World: Through the Eyes of Tata Ronkholz (1940-1997)', marking the first extensive retrospective of the German photographer, product designer, and interior architect from 14 February to 21 June 2026. The exhibition, curated by Gabriele Conrath-Scholl, who directs Die Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne, showcases Ronkholz's career, emphasizing her objective-documentary photography of kiosks, corner shops, and industrial gates, as well as her work with Thomas Struth on the Düsseldorf Rheinhafen series. Ronkholz was one of the initial students of Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, alongside notable figures like Candida Höfer and Thomas Ruff. The exhibition is based on her estate, acquired by VAN HAM Art Estate in 2011, with support from Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf and private collections. A catalogue titled 'Tata Ronkholz: Gestaltete Welt. Eine Retropektive' (2025, Schirmer/Mosel Verlag) is available for €49.90.
