Taos Society of Artists Exhibition at Couse-Sharp Historic Site

The Couse-Sharp Historic Site is hosting 'Image Makers for America: In Pursuit of a National Identity,' an exhibition this summer and fall that marks the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence's signing. This showcase includes more than 30 artworks by the Taos Society of Artists (TSA), which was established in 1915 to produce genuine American art. Featured pieces are Walter Ufer's 'Thanksgiving Time' (1927), E. L. Blumenschein's 'The Plasterers' (1951), and Catharine Carter Critcher's 'Taos Pueblo Woman.' The exhibition is open from June 23 to October 17, with a celebration and panel discussion on July 10, featuring Alicia M. Romero, Ilona Spruce, and Michael Grauer. Executive director Davison Koenig emphasizes the TSA's impact on views of the Southwest and its diverse communities.
