Tania Candiani's 'Radix' at IVAM, Valencia

At IVAM in Valencia, Tania Candiani presents 'Radix', an immersive installation that reimagines the museum as a site of ecological fabulation. The exhibition, on view until September 20, 2026, transforms the gallery space into a hybrid ecosystem, blending living plants, blown-glass sculptures, suspended organisms, a 'root-tron' device for observing root growth, audiovisual projections, and an octophonic sound composition. The architectural layout adopts a radial geometry inspired by a cross-section of a plant from a book at the Botanical Garden of Valencia, suggesting an imagined plant that may belong to the Valencian territory. Candiani's work speculates on possible mutations and futures, erasing boundaries between species, disciplines, and states of matter, and inviting reflection on the invisible networks sustaining life.
