Tania Bruguera Creates Stained Glass 'Moral Contract' for V&A East

Collaborating with youth from East London and Rainbow Glass Studio, this artwork acts as a 'moral contract' linking the museum to its audience, blending text, light, mapping, and floral designs. Bruguera highlights the importance of accountability and community involvement, asserting that a civic museum should connect with its community. The design showcases various visual traditions and includes participant names as symbols of co-authorship. This contract will be revised every five years, with older glass being replaced, reflecting change or shortcomings. The piece invites visitors to perceive the museum as a relationship rather than merely a location.
