Tangent Design Group Unveils Urban Safari 911 for Chicago Streets
Tangent Design Group, a Chicago-based design studio, has revealed the Urban Safari 911, a one-off Porsche 911 modified for all-weather driving in Chicago. The project began in 2019 after the studio completed another 911-based client project. In 2021, Tangent acquired a 2021 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 finished in Paint-to-Sample Black Olive with a tan leather interior. The car was then transformed with all-terrain accessories, including a front bull bar with three fog lamps, fender flares, a roof rack, and a custom lift kit that raises ride height by three inches without affecting factory suspension electronics. Bespoke parts were created using the firm's large-format 3D printer. Additional features include a yellow graphics package, a ducktail rear wing, and custom Brixton wheels with off-road tires. The powertrain remains stock: a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six producing 379 hp and 331 ft lbs of torque, paired with an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The factory car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph. The Urban Safari 911 is not for sale, but it is parked outside Tangent's studio for public viewing, and the firm invites inquiries about the build.
