Tamara Kostianovsky's 'Phantom Limbs' at ArtYard Center

Tamara Kostianovsky presents her new sculptures in the exhibition 'Phantom Limbs' at ArtYard Center in Frenchtown, New Jersey, halfway between New York and Philadelphia. The title evokes the phantom limb syndrome, linking beauty with pain and the state of nature with that of the flesh. The installation transports viewers from a once bird-filled forest to a desert landscape, where colorful fabric cacti appear soft and huggable but are colonized by wood-eating fungi, revealing a parasitic relationship beneath the surface. On a concrete floor resembling burning sand, roots snake without connecting, isolated giants stand proud yet amputated, their capillaries spreading like veins searching for a body. The experience transforms into an awareness: not to wait until loss to appreciate what we have. The exhibition runs until September 20, 2026. The artist is represented by SLAG & RX Gallery.
