Tact Inoue's MOCKY series uses heat-pressed artificial wood for organic furniture joints

The MOCKY furniture collection by Tact Inoue delves into the potential of artificial wood, a blend of wood flour and resin commonly utilized for decking. Departing from traditional joinery methods, this initiative employs heat and pressure to bond pieces, resulting in uniquely warped joints and unconventional connections. Components are heated using hot plates or heat guns and then compressed in a manual press. This technique allows for shapes and structural links unattainable with natural wood. The collection features a chair, bench, and lamp, with the bench designed without aprons or stretchers, consisting of two separate seat parts. The lamp innovatively reinterprets longitudinal voids meant to minimize material weight. MOCKY showcases artificial wood as a medium with distinct design potential rather than merely a replacement for timber.
