Tableau curates 30+ designers for Cafe Sommersko's 50th anniversary cup show

Tableau founder Julius Værnes Iversen and artistic director Liv Vaisberg curated 'Cups', a collection of limited-edition cups by over 30 artists and designers, presented at Copenhagen's Cafe Sommersko during 3 Days of Design (10–12 June 2026). The exhibition marked the cafe's 50th anniversary as the first bistro in the Danish capital, known for championing contemporary art. Cups were displayed on shelves, countertops, and inside a vintage Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette. Participants included House of Rubber, Heiter X, Odd Matter, Ia Kutateladze, Helle Mardahl, Richard Hutten, Rick Tegelaar, Jane Wright, Jacob Egeberg, Glina³, Carl Johan Jacobsen, Cathrine Raben Davidsen, Sari Rikken, Giulia Cosenza, and Willem van Hooff. Designs ranged from rubber thorns and rocky lumps to faces and nut-and-bolt forms. Værnes Iversen noted the cup's emotional and cultural significance, and was surprised by the breadth of interpretations. Visitors could buy a cup and receive coffee in it.
