Table for One: Lőrincz and Hydeon's Solitary Worlds at Longtermhandstand

The exhibition titled 'Table for One' at Longtermhandstand in Budapest showcases new works by Áron Lőrincz and Hydeon (Ian Fergusson). Born from years of friendship and a continuous exchange between Budapest and New York, this show contemplates the solitary nature of artistic practice and the focused act of drawing. Both artists produce intricately detailed pieces that reference historical themes—such as pirates, Victorian characters, and ancient European architecture—while incorporating modern elements like a Trenitalia train and a Pantera pirate flag. The title reflects the common experience of solitude in the studio, often leading to solitary dinner reservations. Lőrincz's young pirate symbolizes independence, while his tiger is inspired by his pet cat. Hydeon, residing in New York, draws from various historical influences, including medieval and Renaissance architecture, as well as artists like Bruegel and Escher. His admiration for Budapest, especially the Hungarian Parliament, inspired him to get a tattoo of it after witnessing its beauty from the Chain Bridge at sunset. The exhibition invites viewers to contemplate beyond contemporary logic, emphasizing the unique solitude of slow artistic creation in a rapidly moving world.
