Suzannah Wainhouse on Farming, Painting, and Her Collaboration with Saved in the Hamptons

artist · 2026-06-04

Back in 2017, Suzannah Wainhouse, who used to design jewelry sold at Barneys New York, made a big shift from her Williamsburg studio to embrace farming and painting in the Hamptons. She now manages over 200 acres at Marilee's Farmstand and Sagaponack Farm Distillery, growing heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, small grains, and seasonal veggies. This summer, her paintings are on display in a pop-up at Il Buco al Mare, in collaboration with designer Sean McNanney from Saved, running from Memorial Day through Labor Day. McNanney is showcasing her art and designing blankets inspired by it. Wainhouse describes her work as embodying "small battles" and the contrast of paradise and turmoil, with her farming journey deepening her appreciation for life’s rhythms.
