Susana Vega's handcrafted wooden jewellery celebrates imperfection

Venezuelan-born, Texas-based jewellery designer Susana Vega has released Soto, a collection of hand-crafted wooden jewellery that celebrates the natural character of wood. Each piece is unique due to small variations in grain and form, crafted by artisans in Guatemala. Vega, whose family ran a goldsmith workshop, emphasizes a sense of nostalgia for her homeland, though the collection does not explicitly reference Venezuela. She designed by removing and sculpting the material rather than adding to it, embracing simple, organic forms guided by the golden ratio.
