The film, shot in Italy, served as a lifeline for the actress after she was blacklisted in Hollywood for publicly denouncing the genocide in Gaza. Sarandon revealed in February that her agent had severed ties and directors were pressured not to hire her, leading to the collapse of her US film projects. The Italian production provided her only offer. At the festival, she addressed the shift in public awareness regarding US ties to Zionism, noting that 'people have discovered the links of the US with Zionism'. The premiere marks her return to the international stage after a period of professional isolation.
