Supple Studio Crafts Farm-Made Identity for Somer Valley Brewing

architecture-design · 2026-10-13

Somer Valley Brewing, a craft brewery situated on a Somerset farm, has undergone a rebranding by Bath's Supple Studio. The brewery cultivates its own barley, malts it in nearby Warminster, and sources water from its borehole. Centered around the phrase "From our land, to your hand," developed with Jim K Davies, the branding was created right in the farmyard. Illustrator Simon Spilsbury utilized hay bales and fence posts for printing, while the farm's owner used an inked tractor wheel to create designs on paper. The logo maintains its circular form but substitutes a literal landscape with layered bands symbolizing a valley and tilled earth. The "Somer Valley Brewing" lettering is presented in a robust rounded sans font. Spilsbury's whimsical characters, including cows and farmers, are depicted in a playful style across the cans. Each beer features unique names like Rolling Hills and Cluck, with packaging showcasing a cream background adorned with tractor-patterned chevrons. The color scheme draws inspiration from the local landscape, featuring shades like Cornflower blue and Tilled soil brown. This branding also extends to coasters, tap badges, and merchandise, earning Bronze at the 2026 Brand Impact Awards.
