StudioMadera transforms Madrid office into serene 38m² apartment with full-height pivot window

StudioMadera has completed the Apartamento Bernabéu, a 38-square-meter residential conversion in Madrid's Chamartín district. The project transformed a former office space that lacked spatial qualities and received minimal natural light into a tranquil domestic interior. Located on the ground floor, the apartment originally featured a window divided into multiple horizontal and vertical sections that restricted both light and visual openness. This was replaced with a single full-height wooden pivot window designed without divisions to maximize daylight and create material continuity with the interior. The architectural intervention uses materiality and light to establish a serene atmosphere within the compact footprint. Project leader Eileen Ng oversaw the design team, with photography by StudioMadera. The project was completed in 2026 and curated by Valentina Díaz.
