Studio Tyrrell has crafted a visual identity for Manta Chocolate, a company that produces healthier chocolate snacks using raw, plant-based, and unrefined ingredients, free from dairy, gluten, and refined sugar. The design concept centers on the tension between the ascetic purity of the ingredients and the sensual pleasure of consuming chocolate. Oliver Tyrrell, founder of Studio Tyrrell, noted that the minimal ingredient list stood out immediately, contrasting with the rich, indulgent imagery typical of chocolate marketing. The identity features a slinky logotype paired with an elegant square label that places ingredients prominently on the front, rather than hiding them on the back. Online, the ingredients are catalogued into a visual archive to help customers make dietary choices. To balance this functional approach, the studio introduced a visual language evoking luxury, using color, texture, and organic forms to add tactility. The logo includes a handmade gesture that deliberately sits outside the structured system, introducing imperfection. Tyrrell explained that every element of the identity expresses the idea that chocolate can be both nutritious and pleasurable, positioning Manta within the chocolate world while slightly outside the category.
