STUDIO SHOO's TUFF Pencil Cabinet Channels Yerevan's Pink Volcanic Tuff

Designed by Shushana Khachatrian, founder and design director of STUDIO SHOO, the TUFF Pencil Cabinet translates Yerevan's pink volcanic tuff stone into a piece of mobile storage. The Armenian capital's architectural identity is built on that stone, and the cabinet also references the chalk drawings, handwritten names and simple motifs that appear on its porous surfaces — a nod to the city's street culture as much as its built environment. Two colorways are offered. The yellow version has a single tier with a top-opening drawer; the pink version adds a second tier, pairing a top-opening drawer with a pull-out lower drawer, and its upper drawer can double as an occasional coffee table. Both are fitted with wheels so they can be moved between spaces and used for different activities. Through its palette, compact form and adaptable storage, the cabinet links a reference to Yerevan's architecture with the practical demands of everyday creative work.
