Studio Museum in Harlem Presents 'A Sustained Becoming: Studio Museum Artists in Residence 2026'

'A sustained becoming: Studio Museum Artists in Residence 2026' is an exhibition at The Studio Museum in Harlem, showcasing new works by Derriann Pharr, Simonette Quamina, and Taylor Simmons. This display will run until January 3, 2027, at 144 West 125th Street, New York. It represents the inaugural residency cohort to produce art in the museum's new facility, which opened in November 2025. The artists utilize various mediums, including painting, collage, and sculpture, to delve into themes of figuration, cultural memory, and storytelling. Established in 1968, the museum has nurtured over 150 artists of African and Afro-Latinx heritage. The new building features the J. Bruce Llewellyn Artist in Residence Center. Previously, the residency exhibition was hosted off-site at MoMA PS1 during construction. The exhibition is part of the museum's first year in its new location, alongside other shows like 'Geometries' and 'Dreams of This Future: The Collection of Peggy Cooper Cafritz.' The museum operates Wednesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours on Fridays until 9 p.m.; admission is complimentary on Sundays.
