Studio Louis Morgan Designs SOBO, an 80-Square-Metre Plant-Based Restaurant and Listening Space in Paris

Studio Louis Morgan, led by interior architect Louis Aspar, has completed SOBO, an 80-square-metre plant-based restaurant and listening space in Paris. The project treats sound as an architectural material, incorporating custom audio equipment and plant-fibre acoustic ceiling panels to create an environment dedicated to vinyl listening. The interior features mahogany-toned oak panelling, bespoke joinery, vintage furniture, and carefully controlled lighting, drawing on the intimate atmosphere of Japanese ryokans and listening cafés. Architecture, furniture, lighting, acoustics, and circulation were developed as parts of a single narrative, with the design organized around the relationship between space, sound, and guest experience. The project reflects the studio's wider approach to hospitality design, which integrates identity, functionality, materiality, and experience across restaurants, hotels, and bars. Photographs of the space were taken by Irvin Heller. The project was submitted through designboom's DIY submissions feature and edited by Christina Vergopoulou.
