Studio Iro's Primrose Hill house avoids over-design

Studio Iro has completed a townhouse in Primrose Hill, London, for a couple and their dog, with a brief to avoid feeling 'overly interior designed'. The three-storey property, originally opened by Chassay & Last into a double-height volume with a mezzanine and stone, blackened-steel and glass staircase, was refined by Studio Iro in 2021 after the clients discovered the studio's work in a magazine. Key features include a blue leopard-print carpet setting an indigo undertone, a burnt-orange sofa for contrast, and textures from Clay Works limewash, microcement, and exposed brick. Custom elements include a kitchen island by Adam Blencowe, a Roundhouse kitchen with Caesarstone worktop, and De La Espada dining chairs. The clients' existing modernist furniture was integrated rather than replaced. The project prioritizes understatement over curation.
