Studio Ibsen turns Pure Amazon riverboat into a floating gallery

Milan-based Studio Ibsen, led by Adriana Granato, designed the interiors of the Pure Amazon riverboat for Abercrombie & Kent's A&K Sanctuary collection. The vessel launched in 2025 and explores the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve in Peru, where the Marañón and Ucayali rivers meet the Amazon. Interiors incorporate locally sourced mahogany, stone, and textiles, alongside works by Peruvian contemporary artist Silvana Pestana, who addresses illegal gold mining using gold leaf, bronze, and textiles. A wall installation by the Beneai collective and artist Deysi Ramírez features kené textiles. The dining room is decorated with tiles modeled on paiche fish scales. The boat has 12 guest suites with panoramic windows, a spa, gym, and hot tub. Granato described the materials as 'site-specific works of art.' A&K calls it Peru's first luxury riverboat to function as a 'genuine floating gallery.'
