Studio B and Studio Brother John complete cantilevered Colorado house

Studio B Architecture + Interiors and Studio Brother John have completed 9631 Mountain Ridge Place, a 4,410-square-foot house in Boulder, Colorado. The four-bedroom home sits on three acres within the gated Mountain Ridge community, bordered by over 6,300 acres of protected open space. It replaces a previous home lost in the 2020 Cal-Wood fire. Organized in three parts around a central entry, the house features a northern sleeping wing and a southern communal wing with kitchen, dining, and living areas. Clad in low-combustible Accoya wood siding with hip roofs, the design prioritizes views of Pikes Peak, the Boulder Flatirons, the Denver skyline, and the Great Plains. The interior uses Italian travertine and French white oak, with large Vonderhaus glass expanses. The home is zero-net energy with a full solar array, following Boulder County's green building code. Principal architect Sarah Harkins noted the roof forms were inspired by surrounding mountains. The project was developed by John Canova, with landscape design by Evoke Landscaping, construction by Morningstar Homes, and listing by John Canova and Jorgen Jensen.
