Stop/Go: German designers reimagine the doorstop at 3 Days of Design
At Copenhagen's 3 Days of Design festival, curators Robert Hahn and Jacobo Cuesta Wolf presented Stop/Go, an exhibition of over 20 unconventional doorstops by young German creatives. Held at the Goethe-Institut Denmark from 10 to 12 June 2026, the show challenged designers to reinterpret the humble doorstop. Highlights include Alexander von Dombois's stackable beechwood rings, Anna-Lena Wolfrum's machined ash wood cone, Philipp Witte's rock with a handle evoking early curling stones, BNAG's cast-metal replica of Wikipedia's generic doorstop and a stool with wedge feet, Martha Sophie Kikowatz's bent wire outline, Mathis Hoseman's single-piece bent steel, Kasper Kyster's tension-wire shaped steel arc, Studio Œ's forged Smithy Doorstop, Florian Schregelmann's Crossfit doorstop with welded cross base, Hahn & Cuesta Wolf's conical cast-aluminum with wooden handle, Tim Schütze's larch and dolomite combo, Silvio Rebholz and Paul Rees's bound stack of books, Studio Pond's clock-shaped wedge, Till Seegräber and Justus Hilfenhaus's cork non-slip wedge, and Karl Anton Schinkel's rubber-dipped found objects with handles.
