Stokke and MoMA Launch Limited-Edition Tripp Trapp Chair with Reversible Color Panels
Stokke has collaborated with The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York to unveil a special edition of the Tripp Trapp chair, originally designed by Peter Opsvik in 1972. This MoMA Edition showcases reversible panels for the seat and footrest in vibrant colors—yellow, pink, orange, and blue—reflecting MoMA's color scheme, and features the logos of both Stokke and MoMA, along with Opsvik's signature. The partnership, initiated by MoMA last year, follows the chair's display in the museum's 2012 exhibition, Century of the Child: Growing by Design 1900-2000. Jesse Goldstine, MoMA's Chief Retail Officer, noted the chair's significance as a celebrated children's product. The Tripp Trapp, produced by Stokke (established in Ålesund, Norway, in 1932), gained worldwide acclaim after a television demonstration in 1973, with annual sales surpassing Norway's birth rate within a decade. Its design has remained mostly consistent, and it is recognized as a design classic in museum collections. The MoMA Edition can be purchased at store.moma.org and stokke.com.
