Stefhany Y Lozano: Hands as Protagonists in Her Paintings

Stefhany Y Lozano, an artist hailing from Bogotá, Colombia, explores the concept of hands in her artwork, using different gestures to convey feelings. She moved to Germany in 2010 after receiving a scholarship and later earned her MA in arts and illustration from Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, guided by mentor Georg Barber (ATAK), who encouraged her painting journey. Lozano freelances as an illustrator for various publications and festivals and has illustrated five books that made it to Stiftung Buch Kunst's best-book-design lists. Her art has been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London and in multiple countries. Recently, she launched "Rock, Paper, Scissors," a series of 26 hand paintings sold during Christmas. Lozano begins her creative process with lists and sketches, sticking to a specific color scheme and using her own rulers. She’s also exploring oil paints for texture and fabric sculptures, like a 350cm piece named Chain of Unity for the Floating Curtains festival. This year, she plans to further develop her series while enjoying an open creative approach.
