Stefan Oláh Inaugurates La Sphère in Paris's Marais with 'Chantier'

exhibition · 2026-10-17

Austrian photographer Stefan Oláh inaugurates La Sphère, a new Marais venue devoted to the arts, philosophies and spiritualities of the world, with an exhibition that turns its own construction site into subject matter. Cables still hang, walls remain bare, and light waits for an audience. Born in Vienna in 1971 and trained in Munich, Oláh taught for more than twenty years at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, working with a large-format camera on analog film. His series have brought together the Centre Pompidou, the MAK, the mumok, Vienna's Natural History Museum and the Heidi Horten Collection, and now La Sphère itself. For Oláh, a construction site carries the dignity of a portrait. The show runs from 7 October 2026 to 23 January 2027 at 9 rue Saint-Gilles, 75003 Paris, near Chemin Vert metro station, open Wednesday to Saturday from 10:30 to 13:00 and 14:30 to 19:00, with free admission. The venue opens by displaying its own works, with the inaugural exhibition entrusted to the photographer who has long tracked the metamorphosis of cultural spaces.
