Stefan Cooke Spring 2027 Ready-to-Wear: Viennese Train Sets, Spats, and a London Store on the Horizon

other · 2026-09-18

Stefan Cooke's Spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection, presented via lookbook shot in a primary school gym in London, extends the designer's signature cross-hatched argyle motif into new accessories and footwear. A painted wooden toy train-track piece, hung on a thong as a necklace and titled Oh Vienna!, revisits the negative-space argyle configuration Cooke introduced in fall 2020 with his negative-space argyle sweater; the same pattern appears in suede cut-outs on shoulder-bags and on shoe toe-tips. Cooke traced the Austrian reference to his Viennese mother, recalling a two-month stay with his aunt at age 15 and a childhood of craft supplies in Austria. The season also introduces black patent opera shoes with an illusion white elastic sock built into the upper, a spat-like device Cooke confirmed looks cool. Roughly half the collection now serves women while retaining its boyish English freshness; a stiff vinyl skirt fastens with velcro and may echo a folk dirndl, the flippy skirt silhouette becomes a zipped-through dress, and bombers take on a blousy 1980s shell-suit look. Cooke has not staged a physical show since before the pandemic, but lockdown-era Instagram sales reached fans in Japan, South Korea, and the USA. He is now considering opening his own store in east London, following partner Jake Burt's Saturdays-only proof-of-concept shop at 63 Vyner Street and the Chopova Lowena designers' shop in Bethnal Green. Cooke cited a hunger to experience things in real life.
