Stanislas Nordey Stages Mishima's Madame de Sade at Bouffes du Nord
Yukio Mishima's play Madame de Sade, staged by Stanislas Nordey, opens at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris from 6 to 22 November 2026. The work features six women who speak about the Marquis de Sade, who never appears on stage. Mishima's drama examines why Sade's wife, faithful through twenty years of his imprisonment, leaves him on the day of his release. Around the Marquise gather her mother, her sister, a devout baroness, a libertine countess, and a servant — six women conversing on the eve of the French Revolution, each offering a different portrait of Sade. Nordey's cast brings together Mélanie Thierry, Anne Brochet, Sophie Mihran, Julie Pouillon, Lamya Regragui, and Claire Toubin. The production was created in Annecy in October. Performances run Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm, with Sunday matinees at 4pm; tickets range from 10 to 40 euros. The venue is located at 37 bis boulevard de la Chapelle, 75010 Paris, near La Chapelle metro station (line 2). The staging is also included in the publication's selection of new theatre productions.
