Stag's Leap 1973 Cabernet Sets World Record at Christie's Auction
A bottle of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon 1973 sold for $22,500 at Christie's online auction Fine & Rare Wines, more than five times its low estimate, setting a new world record price for the wine. The auction closed June 15 and featured The Reserve Cellar and 50th Anniversary Wines direct from the winery. Chris Munro, Head of Wine, Americas, called it a world record for one of America's truly historic wines, noting the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris. Juan Muñoz-Oca, Estates Director at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, said the result testifies to the enduring legacy of the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon.
