Spoleto Exhibition Revisits Filippo Marignoli's Multifaceted Career

Palazzo Collicola in Spoleto presents 'Un salto nel vuoto: Filippo Marignoli, 1926 – 1995', a retrospective curated by Peter Benson Miller. The show features 22 works spanning the Italian painter's entire career, from his early landscapes and still lifes of the 1950s to his Vertical Landscapes of the 1970s. Marignoli was part of the Sei di Spoleto group alongside Giuseppe De Gregorio, Giannetto Orsini, Ugo Rambaldi, Piero Raspi, and Bruno Toscano, and was associated with Francesco Arcangeli's Ultimo Naturalismo. The exhibition highlights key works such as 'Naufragio' (1957), 'Nubifragio n. 3' and 'n. 4' (1959), and the pivotal 'Homesick' (1972), which bridges his early and late periods. Marignoli's travels to New York, Honolulu, and Paris influenced his style, incorporating elements from Mark Tobey, Philip Guston, and Jackson Pollock. The exhibition runs until January 10, 2027.
