Space Popular Unveils Carpet-Clad Collection Gallery at Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam
Space Popular has finalized the Collection Gallery at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, establishing a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of Dutch architecture. The gallery showcases a digitally printed carpet, segmented into five themed areas by a 50 by 50 cm grid. In collaboration with graphic designer Mariana Lobão, the studio designed a non-linear experience featuring color-coded wooden podiums by Rob den Dulk that display models and interactive screens. Additionally, a 40-metre-long concrete wall acts as a projection surface. With an aim to create a club-like ambiance using darker hues, Space Popular encourages visitors to stay longer. The gallery will remain open until May 2029, offering evolving displays. Photography by Special Thanks Studios.
