SP Architects Converts EXPO 2016 Grounds for COP31 in Antalya

architecture-design · 2026-10-22

The COP31 conference is set to take place in Antalya's Aksu district from November 9 to 20, 2026, with Türkiye in the presidency and Australia facilitating negotiations. SP Architects has transformed the former EXPO 2016 site, working alongside Türkiye's Ministry of Environment, UNFCCC, and various stakeholders. The location will feature a Blue Zone, managed by the UNFCCC for negotiations, and a Green Zone designated for public activities, necessitating careful security and circulation measures. The World Leaders' Climate Action Summit is scheduled for November 11–12, concentrating on resilient urban development, eco-friendly buildings, and sustainable practices. Additional topics will cover energy, transportation, food systems, climate finance, and ecosystem preservation. Following the conference, the area will host fairs and concerts. The overarching theme is "From Dialogue to Consensus, From Consensus to Action."
