Southnord and Amos Rex Present 'The Other Side of the Mountain' at Southnord Artfest 2026

From 14 October 2026 to 21 March 2027, Southnord and Amos Rex will showcase 'The Other Side of the Mountain,' the flagship exhibition of Southnord Artfest 2026. Co-curated by Katariina Timonen and Marcia Harvey Isaksson, this event delves into themes of landscape, movement, and Black spatial imaginaries throughout Africa and its diasporas. It features the work of 11 artists, including six from Africa and five from the Nordics, such as Emeka Ogboh and Karl Ohiri. Designed by NLÉ with minimal walls to foster conversation, the exhibition addresses migration, memory, and colonial legacies, drawing inspiration from Minna Salami's book 'Sensuous Knowledge' and encouraging visitors to engage with diverse narratives at Amos Rex, Helsinki.
