South Park Season 29 Returns to Comedy Central With Biweekly Schedule After Chaotic 2025

South Park, temporarily rebranded as South America in a jab at President Donald Trump's Gulf of America and Lake America renaming efforts, launches Season 29 Episode 1 on Comedy Central Wednesday night, with Paramount+ streaming Thursday morning. The biweekly cadence marks a shift from 2025, when the show's schedule was disrupted by Paramount Global's merger with Skydance. Originally set for July 9, the Season 27 premiere slipped to July 23; Trey Parker and Matt Stone called the merger a "s--tshow" in a July 2, 2025 statement on X. That same day, a $1.5 billion deal was announced for 50 episodes over five years, plus streaming rights to the 26-season catalogue. Season 27 then aired with two-week gaps, and the Sept. 17 episode moved to Sept. 24; Parker and Stone took responsibility on X. Matt Stone told The Denver Post the delay was not censorship, citing procrastination. Season 28 began Oct. 15, continuing the Trump-focused storyline, and ran biweekly through a Dec. 10 finale. For Season 29, the first six episodes air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and stream Thursdays at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT on Paramount+. Episode 1, "South American Biker Gangs," arrives Sept. 16 (Sept. 17 on Paramount+), followed by Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and Nov. 25. Four more episodes are expected to follow the same pattern from December into January 2027 under the 50-episode deal.
