Sorolla's Portrait of Louis Comfort Tiffany Goes on View at Tiffany & Co.'s The Landmark

exhibition · 2026-10-21

A painting on canvas from around 1911 by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida, featuring Louis Comfort Tiffany, is currently displayed at Tiffany & Co.'s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan until November 29. This exhibition, in partnership with the Hispanic Society Museum & Library, showcases Tiffany amidst floral arrangements at Laurelton Hall. Additionally, it includes items from the Tiffany Archives, such as a mosaic mirror created by Tiffany Studios circa 1896. Guillaume Kientz emphasized the portrait's focus on Tiffany's artistry, while Christopher Young referred to him as a trailblazer of American Art Nouveau. Following Sorolla's return to the U.S. in 1911, Tiffany commissioned the portrait. This display aligns with the Met's "Designing the Gilded Age" exhibition, which opens on October 22.
