Sophie Tea to Become First Visual Artist at Royal Albert Hall

Sophie Tea, a British artist who never received formal training and was turned away by every gallery she approached, is poised to make history as the first visual artist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. Based in London, she has developed a successful independent career spanning over ten years, establishing gallery spaces in both London and Australia while selling out significant events. Her artistic focus emphasizes accessibility and participation, particularly through nude pieces that invite women to share their stories and photographs, challenging traditional beauty norms. Tea has painted on more than 200 bodies and nurtured a vibrant community with several active groups. Upcoming endeavors include the Inner Child series, her inaugural residency for emerging artists under the Brewing program, and the launch of her paint brand, Sauce. Additionally, her painting 'I'm a Bit Worried About the Arts,' created during a live stream, accompanied her to a meeting with the UK Culture Secretary after key announcements regarding arts funding.
