Sophie Calle Retrospective at Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin

exhibition · 2026-09-20

Six chapters of Sophie Calle's work from the past three decades are brought together at Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, marking her first solo exhibition in the city in twenty years. Born in 1953, Calle has built her practice on turning her own life into regulated inquiry: following a stranger to Venice, inviting strangers to sleep in her bed, dissecting a breakup letter. The Berlin presentation spans photography, text, installation and video. Its route opens with a series shot in the city in 1996, addressing the emblems of the GDR erased after reunification. The show runs from 13 November 2026 to 2 May 2027 at Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, Germany.
