Chip Taylor, the songwriter behind the Troggs' hit 'Wild Thing' and other notable songs, has passed away at age 86. He died on Monday while in hospice care, as reported by Page Six via his friend Billy Vera. Born James Wesley Voight in Yonkers, New York, in 1940, Taylor was the brother of actor Jon Voight and uncle to Angelina Jolie. His music career included writing for artists like Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt, and Janis Joplin, and he later had a resurgence in the 2000s with alt-country albums featuring Carrie Rodriguez. Taylor's final album was released in 2025, and he is survived by children and grandchildren.
