Song Dong's First Italian Solo Show Fills MAO Turin With Soul Out

Song Dong. Soul Out occupies the entire MAO in Turin from 23 October 2026 through 27 June 2027, marking the Beijing-born artist's debut solo presentation in Italy. Li Zhenhua and Davide Quadrio curate, assisted by Francesca Filisetti and Rebecca Ricci, with Manuela Lietti contributing curatorial and scholarly input. Conceived as a site-specific project, the exhibition turns the museum into a narrative device, staging Song Dong's works in dialogue with the permanent collection and the historic architecture of Palazzo Mazzonis. Iconic installations are shown alongside an archive of photographs and videos documenting performances from the 1990s to the present. The show retraces more than three decades of practice, foregrounding an approach that intertwines individual concerns with broader social experience. Song Dong was born in Beijing in 1966.
