Solange Pessoa's First Spanish Solo Show Opens at Centro Botín in Santander

Centro Botín in Santander is set to showcase "Del día o de la noche," marking the first solo exhibition in Spain for Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa, who hails from Ferros and was born in 1961. Curated by Bárbara Rodríguez Muñoz, this exhibition will take place from 10 October 2026 to 28 March 2027, displaying significant works from the 1980s alongside two large installations. The title signifies the dualities present in her creations. Influenced by her Minas Gerais roots, Pessoa's art utilizes materials such as bronze, earth, human hair, leather, wax, and plant remnants. Highlighted works include Hammocks (1999–2026) and Catedral (1990–2003), as well as new installations Arreios (2026) and Origo (2010–2026), which delve into themes of transformation and colonialism.
