Soho House Milan to Open in Former Cinema Arti by 2028

architecture-design · 2026-07-19

Soho House Milan is set to open in 2028 inside the former Cinema Arti, a historic rationalist building at Via Pietro Mascagni 6 in Milan. Designed between 1933 and 1937 by Mario Cereghini, the six-story structure originally housed the Casa dell'Opera Nazionale Balilla. After WWII, it became a cinema-theater, closing in 2006. Acquired by private owners in 2008 and under a monumental protection order since 2005, the building sat abandoned until now. Renovation work has begun to transform it into Soho House's second Italian location, following the Rome house opened in 2021 in San Lorenzo. The project will include over 50 guest rooms, a rooftop pool, a gym, co-working spaces, and a members' club, blending rationalist architecture with Italian craftsmanship and contemporary art. Meanwhile, Soho House continues its Cities Without Houses program in Milan, offering creative events for members.
