SOFT GROUND: Living Sculptures and Fungi Take Over Nunhead Cemetery Chapel
The exhibition SOFT GROUND, curated by Judit Agui, will take place at the Anglican Chapel in Nunhead Cemetery as part of the Nunhead Art Trail from September 26 to 30, 2026. Featured artists from South London, Chia-Ning Yeh and Sol Bulteel, incorporate living materials into their creations. Yeh's piece, hidden in plain sight (2026), showcases living sculptures derived from local pickling and composting, ultimately enriching a vegetable garden. Bulteel presents Failure Archive (2026), a living textile sculpture that highlights the element of unpredictability. Public viewing is available from 11am to 6pm on September 26 and 27, with appointments required from September 28 to 30. The opening on September 26 will include performances and complimentary drinks, while Yeh will conduct a workshop on September 27. Agui has previously curated numerous projects and is a co-founder of the Urban Heat Collective.
