SO&CO. Designs Narrow Office Building in Tokyo's Koenji District
Japanese architecture firm SO&CO., led by principal architect So Teruuchi, has completed a three-story-plus-basement office building on a flag-shaped plot near Koenji Station in Tokyo. The site has a street frontage of only 2 meters, and the building covers 50 square meters. The design team aimed to break free from conventional reinforced concrete shear wall structures to expand the possibilities of concrete. Structural engineering was provided by LOW FAT structure, MEP by Y.M.O and Sakuragumi, and general contracting by Maekawa Construction. The project was completed in 2025 and photographed by Hayato Wakabayashi. The building is categorized as office architecture.
