SO Arquitetura & Design completes House of the Shattered Rock in Portugal
SO Arquitetura & Design has completed Casa da Rocha Quebrada, a 315-square-meter residential project in Portugal. The house was finished in 2024 and photographed by Ivo Tavares Studio. Curator Susanna Moreira oversaw the project, which involved multiple specialists including acoustics, hydraulic, and thermal engineer Roberto Aguiar. Construction was handled by Tecnicouto, with engineering from Teorema Contínuo - Unipessoal Lda. Landscape architecture and enforcement were managed by SO Arquitetura & Design, while lighting design came from TECNIQ. Manufacturers Technal, Bosch, and Carlos Pinheiro Sistemas supplied products for the build. The architects describe the residence as essential rather than minimalist or brutalist.
